2013 Personal Apps

2013 has been another busy year at work, in events, and in other activities. But I did find some time to work on a few personal apps.

Boto Ko Android App

I started working on Boto Ko in April for the 2013 National and Local Elections (May 13) and released another update for the 2013 Barangay Elections (October 28). With Boto Ko (Boto 'ko or My Vote in English), you can list the candidates you want to vote and update it anytime. Also, you can share your list anytime with ease via SMS, email, and many more. This removes the need to list it down on paper and erasing it or making a new list when you need to update it.

Sweldong Pinoy Firefox OS App

I applied in Mozilla's Firefox OS Phones for App Ports and received a Geeksphone Keon Firefox OS developer preview phone. I wasn't able to port my HTML5 app within 31 days but I was able to port Sweldong Pinoy before the year ends. It is now available in the Firefox Marketplace.

Apps Updates
  • Sweldong Pinoy Web App Redesign
    • Made the app responsive by using Twitter Bootstrap
    • Adding night differential and overtime pay computations
    • Updating computations based on new tables
    • Adding social media icons
    • Improving layout and design
  • Sweldong Pinoy Android App
    • Use of Action Bar Sherlock for action bars on devices whose OS version is lower than Android 3.0
    • Adding night differential and overtime pay computations
    • Updating computations based on new tables
    • Hiding the night differential and overtime input field and adding checkbox to show them
  • GDGPH Android App
    • Adding Posts and Events
    • Adding navigation drawer for posts, events, and chapters
    • Cleanup and removal of unused codes
  • Pinoy Jokes Android App
    • Use of Action Bar Sherlock for action bars on devices whose OS version is lower than Android 3.0
    • Adding tab for favorite jokes
    • Making the loading of favorites and jokes list faster
    • Bug fixes and optimization

Hopefully, I will have more time for apps development this 2014: for developing new apps and for updating my other apps.

Sweldong Pinoy wins at iOSDevCampPH

Last July 12-14, 2013, +Globe Labs organized the iOSDevCamp Philippines: The App Challenge 2013. Since +Sweldong Pinoy does not have an iOS app yet, +Jomar Tigcal decided to start making one during the hackathon. Surprisingly, during the judging on the 14th, we're one of the three winners of the iOSDevCamp.

Sweldong Pinoy Featured in Radio, TV and Articles

Almost a year ago, The Filipino Lifestyle had an article entitled, Independence Day Special: Proudly Pinoy Apps. Much to our surprise, Sweldong Pinoy for Android is one of the apps listed in the article. Thank you so much for the feature TFL!

Five months after this article feature, Jomar received an email from Mr. Carlo Ople. He is the husband of the reporter and radio show host for TV5, Miss Michelle Orosa-Ople. They wanted to feature Sweldong Pinoy for their radio show in Radyo5 92.3 News FM, Oplan Asenso. We were there on November 10 (12:00 NN to 2:00 PM) and their topics for that weekend are salary, deductions and budgeting.

Michelle's post on Instagram during our interview on Oplan Asenso

After the radio show, we also had a video interview about the app. Here's our photo with the radio host and below is the screenshot of Michelle's tweet about the TV appearance of Sweldong Pinoy on November 14, 2012.

Two weeks after the radio interview and news scoop about Sweldong Pinoy, we found this article in Breath Technology about the app.

Thank you very much to all those using Sweldong Pinoy and to those writing or posting about the app.

Boto Ko Android App

Want to keep a note of the candidates you'll vote this May 13 for the 2013 National and Local Elections in the Philippines? Are you putting your list in paper and keeps erasing names on it as you change your preference? This Android app is for you! With Boto Ko (Boto 'ko or My Vote in English), you can list the candidates you want to vote and update the list anytime you want. Also, you can share your list anytime with ease via SMS, email and many more.

The list of candidates for senators and party-lists were taken from the COMELEC website. The names of the senators are based from the "NAMES TO APPEAR on the BALLOT" in the official list from the COMELEC website.

Disclaimer: This app was done independently by its developer. The color scheme used in the app does not represent any candidate or political party. The names in the screenshots on the Google Play page only show the first candidates in the list and does not mean they are the developer's preferred candidate. Also, this app will only record the candidates you selected in your device.

Download the app from Google Play now!
